Botanical Name Rhododendron atlanticum
Description Rhododendron atlanticum has white to pink flowers and a sensual spicy fragrance. With a spreading habit and being extremely stoloniferous, species atlanticum grows to a mature size 5' tall x 8-10' wide. The under side of the foliage has a glaucous appearance (whitish coating/color) that make this species different from most. The flowers appear from late May through June. Coastal Azalea is native to the coastal plain of the eastern mid-south. This species is best planted in shade with consistent moisture.
Notes
As with all wild species, flower color may vary with seed grown plants. Only selected cultivars will provide consistant color forms.
