Common Name Ash Magnolia Variety
Regional Names
Botanical Name Magnolia ashei
Description This rare native deciduous magnolia will bloom with tulip shaped flowers when it is only 3 years old. The flowers are extremely fragrant, cream colored with a purple center when it is only a few feet high. A shade-loving tree that will grow faster in full sun. The large delicate leaves resemble the Big Leaf Magnolia but are slightly smaller. The fragrance alone is enough for this species to warrant that special place in your garden. We specialize in deciduous Magnolias and this is our favorite. Like many other native deciduous species Ashei lends a tropical look to any landscape.
