The hardiest of the Passiflora species. The fruit can be eaten or made into jelly. A larval host plant for several butterflies including the Gulf and Variegated Fritillaries, Zebra Longwing, Crimson Patch Longwing, Red Banded Hairstreak, and Julia butterfly. A great nectar source for many other flying pollinators.
