Description
An upland hickory with a very interesting, shaggy bark although not as shaggy as C. ovata. Drought tolerant, this large hickory makes an excellent shade tree and produces egg shaped nuts with thick shells. Rarely offered in the nursery trade. A special note: the green leaves when crushed have a faint apple fragrance. Matures to 70'High.
