Common Name Oakleaf Hydrangea Variety 'PeeWee'
Regional Names
Botanical Name Hydrangea quercifolia
Description This shrub grows to a maximum size of 4'High x 4'Wide with leaves changing in fall to orange, red, then purple and persisting throughout late winter. The leaves begin to fall only as the new growth commences in the spring producing upright 4-8" long panicles of white flowers in late May and early June. I would consider this variety to be evergreen in zone 7 and warmer. Beautiful exfoliating bark, very sun and shade tolerant but will not tolerate damp soils.
