Botanical Name Rhododendron bakeri
Description Rhododendron bakeri, the species name has been changed to cumberlandse, but still has brilliant fiery orange and sometimes red flowers late spring and early summer depending on where you garden. It's normal flowering time is in June which is later than the other orange azaleas. A smaller shrub and grows only 3-5'High x 6'Wide at maturity. Does best in shade with consistent moisture. This is truly a nice shrub that offers heavy flowering and limited in it's growth habit. Slow growing and hard to find.
Notes
As with all wild species, flower color may vary with seed grown plants. Only selected cultivars will provide consistent color forms. We have lost our seed source for this rhododendron for the moment and do not have it currently in propagation.
