Description
this small tree is a common plant in the trade and wild in dry habitat. It is a small tree or large shrubs with evergreen leaves and creamy white flowers in spring (Late March- April in zone 7). In summer the drupes (berries) develope and in fall turn black as they ripen. The fruit persist all winter and are eaten by birds. Carolina Cherry Laurel does well in dry upland sites. It is a favorite for evergreen privacy barriers.
