Description Species flava is a large open weeping shrub to small tree that will tolerate very dry (xeric) conditions. It prefers full sun and dry soils. In the spring it is coved with small simple apple like white flowers. In late summer and early fall it produces yellow and sometimes maturing to red fruit that are small but very tasty. The fruit are a favorite food of wildlife, making jelly or just gooding.
